    Ingredients

    • Instant vanilla pudding mix — 1 package
    • Cold milk — 1 1/4 cups | 300 ml
    • Vanilla extract — 0.3 oz | 8 g
    • Powdered sugar — 2 tbsp
    • Whipped cream stabilizer — 1 packet
    • Mascarpone — 8.8 oz | 250 g
    • Heavy cream, chilled — 3/4 cup | 200 ml
    • Ladyfingers — 1 package
    • Strong coffee, completely cooled — 1 2/3 cups | 400 ml

    Step-by-Step Recipe

    1. Prepare the vanilla pudding: whisk the contents of the packet with 1 1/4 cups | 300 ml cold milk until thick.
    2. In a separate bowl, stir the mascarpone with the vanilla extract until smooth.
    3. Whip the cream with the powdered sugar and stabilizer to soft peaks.
    4. Fold the mascarpone into the vanilla pudding, then gently fold in the whipped cream with a spatula until light and airy.
    5. Quickly dip the ladyfingers into the cold coffee for 1–2 seconds on each side and arrange the first layer in a dish.
    6. Spread over half of the cream. Repeat with another layer of ladyfingers and cream.
    7. Serve immediately, or chill for 30–60 minutes for a deeper flavor.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What can I use instead of mascarpone if I don’t have any?

Use full-fat cream cheese and add 1–2 tbsp of cream for a softer texture. Thick sour cream with 25–30% fat also works, though the flavor will be less creamy.

Can I make it without whipped cream stabilizer?

Yes. Whip very cold cream to firm peaks and gently fold it into the cream. You can also add a pinch of cornstarch or dry vanilla pudding mix for extra stability.

What coffee is best for soaking the ladyfingers?

Strong espresso or a rich filter coffee works well. Be sure to cool it completely. For extra flavor, you can add a little liqueur, such as amaretto, but it is optional.
